Annotation | In April 2002, the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (the Care Commission) assumed responsibility for regulating care services previously undertaken variously by NHS Boards, local authorities, and the Social Work Inspectorate. This report gives an overview of how some care services were regulated and inspected prior to April 2002. It pays attention to how good practice was identified and defined from the service user's point of view, and the gaps in information to be considered in future approaches to the regulation of care services. Among the inspection areas examined are residential care, and care provided in private homes. (RH). |
