AnnotationMental health is one of three clinical priority areas for the NHS in Scotland; mental health problems are likely to affect one in five Scots in any one year. This survey is based on a random sample of 1381 interviews with a representative sample of adults across Scotland. It investigated people's understanding of mental health and well-being; examined where and how people acquire information about mental health issues; assessed people's perceptions of mental health problems, including the stereotypes and myths surrounding mental illness; and measured the extent to which previous direct experience of mental health problems is related to people's attitudes towards, and perceptions of, mental health problems.
