Annotation | The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution to the further improvement of services provided. This review concludes that Nottinghamshire is serving most people well, and that prospects for improvement are promising. Examples of good practice include: development of advocacy services; the Trowell Luncheon and Travel Club, enabling older people in a rural area to have access to shopping facilities; interagency preventative schemes for older people; and interagency application of the Best Value (BV) methodology (for example, in implementing the Single Assessment process within the National Service Framework for Older People - NSF). Priorities for improvement identified by the Review include focusing on the "enabling authority" role, concentrating on meeting the needs of users and carers, irrespective of provider. (RH). |
