Annotation | The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution to the further improvement of services provided. The review finds that most services in County Durham have improved in the last two years, though some people are not receiving services that promote their independence. A mobile advice and information service to older people and their carers living in remote villages is cited as an example of good practice. The Review identifies priorities for action, including: developing more effective working with all health partners; agreeing a way forward with providers of adult residential and nursing home services; and revisiting decisions about older people's services and improving service delivery, particularly to those with dementia.
