Annotation | Publication of this review coincides with that of the Green Paper "Simplicity, security and choice: working and saving for retirement" (Cm 5677). The main purpose of this review is to comment of Opra's performance in the five years since its inception, and to make recommendations for the future. Part of the recommendations include an endorsement of an aspect of the Pickering review on pensions: that the future regulation of non-State pensions needs to adopt a somewhat different approach. It concludes that under the proposed reforms, the new pension regulator will be a "proactive and risk focused organisation, providing greater protection to scheme members, whilst also providing support and advice to those administering schemes".
