Annotation | Structured reflective writing can be a way of providing "time" to reflect on and make sense of occurrences that have affected nursing practice, for example. The process of reflection does not necessarily have to be written, but it is suggested that more insight can be gained if writing is involved, as this enables the more objective structuring of thoughts and recollections. The author reviews relevant literature and uses a case study to illustrate how reflective practice can help nurses develop their care of older people. However, its development depends on a supportive organisational culture that values individuals. (RH). |
