AnnotationThe purpose of Joint Reviews is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution towards the further improvement of services provided. This Joint Review finds that some people in Brent are well served by Social Services. Although the borough has had a recent history of "failing" services, prospects for services improving are promising. However, for some users - especially older people and those asking for assessments for equipment and adaptations - there are some long delays. The review also identifies examples of good practice, including: a bereavement counselling service; and provision of ethnically sensitive services. Priorities for action identified by the review include: improving access arrangements in community care services; and maximising user involvement in shaping services. (RH).
