AnnotationThere have been significant advances made in recent years in the care of older people in Renfrew and Inverclyde, but this review suggests that further improvements are needed. Positive developments include: the development of stroke services; improvements in acute assessments; the establishment of quality of life teams in the primary care trust (PCT); and the appointment of support nurses. Whilst service users and carers are satisfied with the service, the review identifies problems with: delayed discharges; unsuitable hospital accommodation; clinical pharmacy support; and frequency of consultant reviews and availability of information, especially about advocacy.
