Annotation | Through the Older Homelessness Partnership Programme, the Housing Associations Charitable Trust (hact), Help the Aged and Crisis have funded 17 innovative projects throughout the UK, together with an evaluation of the overall programme. The Programme was established in 1998, with the aim of providing long-term solutions for older homeless people or those at risk from homelessness, by identifying funding and models of good practice. This summary outlines the main report's content, covering: the range of older homeless groups and policy issues; the experiences of older homeless people and the work undertaken with them; how older people vulnerable to homelessness gain access to housing, care and support services; the impact of the benefits system on older people; voluntary organisations working the field and their funding problems; and the context of the work of the Older Homelessness Partnership Programme. Policy and practice recommendations for national funders, national and local government agencies, and other statutory providers point to the need for further targeted funding to tackle the needs of specific groups of older people at risk of homelessness.
