AnnotationOutcomes of community care that people aged 75+ consider most important for their overall quality of life were identified, A second aim of the study was to see how the views of older people compared with those of professional carers. Six important desired outcomes of care emerged from quantitative analysis: company (having someone to talk to); mobility (including access to public transport); pain relief; personal hygiene (e.g. help with bathing); safety; and social support. Findings are reported of a survey of 165 people aged 75+ living the community, and all 157 community health and social care professionals working in North East Fife. The relevance of quality of life outcomes for evaluating the outcomes of care for older people in community settings is emphasised. (RH).
