Annotation | The study by De Leo et al in this issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry reports a robust decline in suicide rates in older users of a telephone-based system of support and information, when compared with general population suicide rates in Northern Italy. The study demonstrates the value of using telecommunications to provide mental health care services, indeed as a component of health service planning in general. (RH). |
