Annotation | Respite care may meet the needs of some carers, but might be more relevant if it were widely and more frequently available, especially at the short notice at which can be required. This review suggests studies on the demand for respite care, and its provision in day centres and day hospitals, residential relief care, and through workplace programmes for carers in employment. The author notes that qualitative and quantitative research has not contributed to providing evidence of the precise benefits of respite care. (RH). |
