AnnotationThis bulletin provides information on residential and nursing care placements funded by Councils with Social Services Responsibilities (CSSRs), at 31 March each year. It contains statistics on the number of residents supported, type of care, sector, client group, type of stay and age for supported residents in England only. It is based on the SR1 returns submitted to Department of Health by CSSRs. A local authority supported resident is a person receiving care in residential or nursing accommodation whose costs are met wholly or partly by a particular local authority. This Bulletin on supported residents replaces the Bulletin "Community care statistics: residential personal social services for adults, England". Further information on residential care homes and places is included in the Bulletin "Community care statistics : residential and nursing care homes, private hospitals and clinics". (KJ).
