Annotation | Evergreen Action is a nutrition education programme for Canadians aged 55+ living in the community in Guelph, Ontario. Based in a seniors recreation centre, this pilot programme uses a community organisation approach for programme planning. This article describes the steps in designing and managing the programme's development. Preliminary results demonstrate benefits of this approach. After 18 months, participation rates and satisfaction with activities are high, with seniors taking increasing responsibility in planning and delivery. Success relies on their participation in all aspects of the process, management and services provided by a registered dietitian with the assistance of student volunteers. (KJ/RH). |
