AnnotationSecondary analysis of initial 1991 data from the Canadian Study of Health and Aging (CSHA) and five year follow-up of 9008 seniors was used to determine whether variation at the high end of cognitive test scores predicts mortality or institutionalisation. Cognitive test score did predict both mortality and institutionalisation in community-dwelling older people, with low normal test scores predicting adverse outcomes. (RH).
