AnnotationPresents findings from a survey of the number of vehicle badges issued by local authorities to people with disabilities. A summary of the results collected for each year of the survey appears as Table 1. Table 2 and 3 itemise the returns for each local authority in England. Table 4 shows the number of applications, renewals and refusals for badges for the year under review. The scheme changed from orange to blue badges from 1st April 2000 to comply with the European-wide standard, and thereby aid recognition and acceptance throughout the European community. Blue badge statistics are to be incorporated as part of the publication "A Bulletin of Public Transport Statistics GB" to be found on the Department for Transport website and will not be published separately in future.
