Annotation | This new series replaces four former statistical titles: Activities of Social Service Departments; Staff of Social Service Departments; Residential Care Homes and Nursing Homes in Wales; Children in Residential Care in Wales. Other related, previously published titles include: Residential accommodation for elderly people and people with physical or visual disabilities; and Residential accommodation for the elderly, younger physically handicapped and blind. The present title includes statistics on the following themes: older people; physical and sensory disability; learning disabilities; mental health; services for adults; staffing; and social services expenditure. Owing to local government reorganisation in England and Wales in 1996, there is an absence of reliable figures for 1995 and 1996 for some series in this publication. The appendices include statistical profiles of the 22 unitary authorities in Wales and a glossary. From 2002, the Data Unit became responsible for this series and changed the year under review to the fiscal one (March to April). From 2002 the data is freely available from the website: (www.wales.gov.uk/statistics) and from 2011 this annual compendia will only be available in electronic format. (KJ/RH). |
