Annotation | The purpose of the the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well people in Merton are being served by their social services. Some people are served well, but the Authority has not moved with the changing social care environment: most of the problems identified relate to services for children and young people. The report cites the following examples of good practice relating to older people: carer support provided by Merton's MIND day centre for older people with dementia; the MASCOT Community Alarm System; the Hospital Discharge Team's work in ensuring prompt discharge from hospital; and developing supporting living options for adults with learning disabilities. Priorities for action recommended by the Joint Review include developing user and carer participation and empowerment. (RH). |
