AnnotationThis Toolkit is published jointly by the Scottish Executive and the Partners in Change project at Scottish Human Services Trust. It consists of three parts. "Opening Up" is a guide about working in partnership at different levels, with ideas and practical suggestions for making this everyday practice in the NHS. "Involving People in the NHS: some practical guidance on approaches" summarises some of the many different ways of engaging with people at different levels, with examples from the NHS and other public sector organisations in Scotland. "User and public involvement in health services: a literature review" reviews literature published primarily in the UK during the past 5 years, examining theories and involvement initiatives in health and illness fields. This Toolkit is part of the Scottish Executive's commitment to support the NHS and the people it serves, to develop a different kind of working relationship based on mutual trust, respect and openness. Sections of the Toolkit can be printed from the Involving People website at www.show.scot.nhs.uk/involvingpeople (KJ/RH).
