Annotation | Help the Aged commissioned research which examined seven areas of public policy to investigate the extent and impact of age discrimination: education, employment, health care, social care, social security, transport, and citizenship. The resulting report has recommended that age discrimination and its negative consequences should be openly acknowledged and backed by anti-discrimination legislation. While more research is needed, the older people themselves should be involved in policy development. This article comprises an extract from the executive summary of the report, 'Age discrimination in public policy: a review of evidence'. (RH). |
