Annotation537 people aged 75+ living in the community in Sydney were interviewed about their use of community and medical services and the provision of unpaid support from their social network. Disability and disease are the main determinants of service use. Unpaid support and community service use were predicted predominantly by disability, with disease providing little additional prediction. Both disease and disability predicted medical service use. With disease and disability controlled for, enabling and predisposing variables did not significantly predict additional medical service use of unpaid support, but did predict small additional variation in some community service use.
