AnnotationIn collaboration with other scholars, the author has developed an advanced research training programme for psychology teachers from US colleges. Programme goals include strengthening participants' knowledge of methodological issues, increasing their awareness of grant support available to conduct ageing research, and fostering the development of networking relationships. To date, 30 teachers have participated in the programme, who have indicated that in doing so, it has increased their knowledge, skills and motivation to conduct ageing research. Support for the programme and for preparation of this paper was provided by the US National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health. An earlier version of this paper was presented at the 52nd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America held in San Francisco, November 1999. (KJ/RH).
