AnnotationAction-Research has been a required course in the core curriculum for the undergraduate major and certificate Gerontology programmes at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMBV) since 1980. This paper gives an overview of how the goals of student learning and research timetable deadlines are balanced within the academic year. The quality of the experience is discussed from the perspectives of the faculty member, 11 graduate student assistants, 182 undergraduate certificate students, and 5 community partners who participated in the design and implementation of projects over a 7-year period.
