Annotation | Touch is considered by many as a core aspect of care-giving and of the nurse-patient relationship. This article reviews the evidence and current debates relating to the effects of therapeutic touch for older people with mental health needs. It introduces a project being run at Kendray Hospital's Nurse Development Unit (NDU) in Barnsley, and outlines the aims the of study, results of which are to be reported in a future issue of Nursing Older People.
