Annotation	An annual comprehensive review of the market for the care of older people in the UK. The survey covers the structure, market size and trends in the care home industry; regulation of nursing and residential homes, sheltered housing and nursing and care home agencies; customer profiles; sources of finance (local authority funding, income support, the NHS, private funding, and long-term care insurance); and costs, fees, profits and return on capital. There are statistical tables and figures to illustrate these trends and developments. Each year's survey carries a topical comment about current developments, for example ways in which the Care Standards Act 2000 regulates social services.
