Annotation | Using data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (US), migrating older people are found to undertake more tenure change than might be expected. A multinomial logit analysis indicates that home equity, income and age have dramatic influences on tenure choices. Being married and becoming retired have some effect, although other demographic variables are not found to be strong influences. A limited role is found for housing market variables. A similar analysis for non-migrating movers is substantially different, justifying the separate treatment of migrants. (KJ/RH). |
