Annotation | Articles in this issues of Generations are presented in four sections, the first of which focuses on underlying assumptions and definitions of mental health and mental disorders. The second section examines specific concerns and recent developments in mental disorders in later life: depression, dementia, psychotic disorders, anxiety, and alcohol abuse. The third section, on settings and policy, depicts contexts of care. These include: the role of primary care physicians; nursing assistants as providers of mental health care in nursing homes; assisted living; and home health care. The final section, on practice concepts, comprises articles on: implementing evidence-based practices in geriatric mental health; competency assessment and research; family caregiving for people with Alzheimer's disease (results from the NYU Spouse Caregiver Intervention Study); and future provision of mental health services.
