The prevalence of dementia in older people in an urban population of Korea
 — the Seoul study

Annotation643 people aged 65+ participated in this study, to whom the Korean versions of the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE-KC) and the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD) assessment were administered. Dementia prevalence ranged from 2.6% in those aged 65-69, to 32.6% in those aged 85+. Age standardised prevalence was 8.2% for dementia, 5.4% for Alzheimer's disease (AD), and 2% for vascular dementia. Compared with other populations, prevalence of dementia is somewhat lower than in rural areas of Korea. (RH).
