The challenge of retirement | Author(s) | Chris Phillipson |
Journal title | Generations Review, vol 12, no 2, July 2002 |
Pages | pp 4-5 |
Keywords | Retirement ; Retirement policy. |
Annotation | Tensions in the current debates about pensions are explored in three main ways. First, the key features in the development of retirement are summarised. Second, the significance of new transitions from work to retirement are reviewed. Lastly, some issues for social gerontology are highlighted. The author concludes that the field of retirement studies should re-emerge as a key area of investigation over the next few years. In doing so, this will also bring forward new topics and issues that should reinvigorate the wider discipline of social gerontology. (RH). |
