Annotation | The Lord Chancellor's Department has produced a pack of six leaflets which are intended to provide help and guidance for adults, who, due to mental incapacity, need support to make decisions and also for those involved in caring for them. This article sets out the contents of the leaflet for legal practitioners, "Supporting people to make their own decisions: a guide for legal practitioners". The Government accepts the need to change the law on substituted decision making, so that the guides' purpose is to give examples of good practice based on the law as it stands. All six leaflets are also available from the website at: http://www.lcd.gov.uk/consult/family/decision.htm (RH). |
