AnnotationThis video follows the experiences of a small number of individuals in a day centre where the activities are facilitated (under the auspices of Sandwell Third Age Arts) by two artists and a number of care staff and volunteers. The video has no commentary, rather it suggests possibilities for this type of work with people with dementia, to give a "feel" of what interactions are like. Among the activities illustrated are podging, batik, reminiscence through photographs, collage, creating wall-hangings, singing, mosaic-making, and watercolour painting. All the filming was done by the Edinburgh film-maker, Sitar Rose. Observing the degree of disability of the participants and the effects of this on performance of tasks makes this video particularly suitable for training purposes. (RH).
