AnnotationAs part of her response to the Royal Commission on Long Term Care in October 2000, Scotland's Minister for Health and Community Care set the Chief Nursing Officer the task of taking forward the work on provision of free nursing care. In response, the CNO set up the Free Nursing Care Stakeholders Group, with a remit to report on issues involved in providing nursing care free of charge in all settings, with particular emphasis on developing a system which takes into account the assessment of need for such care, the relevance of professional duties, and the necessary financial framework.
