AnnotationThe annual US Retirement Confidence Survey (RCS) gauges the views and attitudes of working-age and retired Americans regarding retirement, their preparations for retirement, their confidence with regard to various aspects of retirement, and related issues. From 1998 to 2001, additional respondents from three minority ethnic groups (African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Asian Americans) were surveyed. Results of the Minority Retirement Confidence Survey (MRCS) show similarities as well as differences between individuals in these groups with respect to the overall working-age population in retirement confidence, expectations, and planning and saving behaviour. This article focuses on minority ethnic groups' preparations for retirement, including steps respondents have taken to save for retirement. The key findings from these sections of the 2001 MRCS are compared and summarised. (RH).
