AnnotationThe median income of black elders has fallen from 70% of that of their white counterparts in 1967 to 60% at the beginning of the 21st century. When gender is taken into account, disparities become greater: the poverty rate of black women aged 75+ is about ten times that of "young-old" white men (age 65-74). This briefing presents evidence of difficulties in retirement experienced by ethnic minority groups in the US. (RH).
