AnnotationThe Review Team's overall objectives were to make it easier for employers to provide good quality pensions for their employees, easier for commercial providers to sell appropriate products to appropriate people, and easier to accumulate pension benefits. Three key themes emerged during the review: a proportionately regulatory environment; "a pension is a pension is a pension"; and more pension and less prescription. To implement the suggested changes, a new Pensions Act is proposed, which would repeal or consolidate all existing Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) private pensions legislation. The review is also being carried out simultaneously with two other reviews: Sandler on savings, and the Inland Revenue's on tax rules. (RH).
