Annotation | Keeping physically active - even when your mobility is limited - forms a vital part of maintaining independence in older age. This article includes extracts from the author's "Alive & Kicking: the carer's guide to exercises for older people" published by Age Concern England, which provides a wide range of ideas on how to help older people to maintain or increase their fitness and independence through movement and exercise. The article explores how older people living in care homes can be encouraged to maintain and in some cases, increase the level and type of their physical activity. (KJ/RH). |
