AnnotationThe purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services. It concludes that many older people have poor access to social services in East Sussex, with long waits for assessments and service delivery. Users' and carers' experiences confirm that view; some people with their own means have been discouraged from pursuing assessments and services. Examples of good practice identified include: consultation with users of the Living at Home programme; the User Q group on mental health services; multi-agency adult protection procedures; and training of occupational therapists. Priorities for action include: focusing on improving the user experience; improving and reshaping services for older people and other adults; and building the partnership with health care. (RH).
