AnnotationThe Advisory Group's terms of reference were that older people in Wales should have the right to live independently and with dignity, the aim being to formulate a strategy to provide services in a timely and appropriate way to promote their health and well-being, enabling them to maximise their independence, potential and participation. The following themes were used in the consultation and formed the basis for the report: social inclusion; transport: access, mobility and non-urban living; lifelong learning and employment of older people; housing and other local government services; health promotion and healthy living; health and social care; and non-devolved issues such as pensions. Chapters on citizenship, healthy living, independence (including free personal care), and accessing services with increasing dependence present findings from the consultation and literature reviews. More than 100 recommendations are made to support policy making and action. The principles for putting these into practice are discussed, along with suggestions about the next steps in the process. The report is in English and Welsh. (RH).
