AnnotationA landmark study of the material well-being of older people in nine OECD countries - Canada, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) - uses a wealth of new data to shed light on the challenges for policy-makers as they anticipate the retirement of the baby-boom generation. The report examines three specific challenges: the growing imbalance of time spent in work and in retirement; the changing mix of different forms of retirement income provision; and the need to maintain adequate replacement income and tackle any persisting problems of low income in old age - while avoiding unintended harm to vulnerable groups as a result of reforms.
