AnnotationThe Metropolitan Borough of Walsall was created in 1974. The purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well local people are being served by their social services, and to make a constructive contribution toward the further improvement of the services provided. The review concludes that Walsall is not well served; and older user groups experience a limited choice of services. Examples of good practice included: a start to integrating the assessment of community care needs; provision of a service by Sense to deaf-blind people; and a daycare service for minority ethnic elders. The review recommends priorities for action including: improving the quality and range of services; improving the assessment and care management services provided by social work teams; improved joint provision with health; and promoting a customer focus.
