Author(s)Didi M W Kriegsman, Brenda W J H Penninx, Jacques Th M van Eijk
Journal titleJournal of Clinical Epidemiology, vol 49, no 12, 1996
Pagespp 1407-1417
KeywordsChronic illness ; Symptoms ; Living in the community ; Screening ; General practice ; Longitudinal surveys ; Netherlands.
AnnotationResults based on data from the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA) indicate that patients' self-reports on selected chronic diseases are fairly accurate, with the exceptions of artherosclerosis and arthritis. The association found with certain patient characteristics may be explained by the tendency of patients to label symptoms, denial by the patient, or inaccuracy of medical records. (OFFPRINT.) (RH).
