Annotation | The term "managerialism" is used to refer to the ideology of management and the application of managerial techniques to needs assessment in community care services for older people. Empirical work for this study is based on the views of 38 health and social care professionals, which show that the social construction of needs assessment takes place in managing the matching of eligibility criteria against types of services. The study show that professionals identify older people into two groups or "classes": those having health needs, and those with social care needs. (RH). |
