Journal title | Irish Medical Journal, vol 93, no 7, October 2000 |

Keywords | Self care capacity ; Neglect [care] ; Domiciliary services ; Usage [services] ; Cross sectional surveys ; Ireland. |
Annotation | A cross-sectional observational study of service providers illustrates the reclusive behaviour and living conditions of those individuals who refuse help from the voluntary or statutory sectors. Many of these individuals had poor personal hygiene or met criteria for "Diogenes Syndrome". Despite the best efforts of agencies, service refusers can remain steadfast in not availing of the help that is on offer. (OFFPRINT.) (RH). |
