AnnotationThe United Nations (UN) declared 2001 the International Year of Volunteers (IYV), with the aim of celebrating and promoting volunteering among all age groups. In England, a co-ordinating group was created, led by the National Centre for Volunteering and sub-groups such as the Older People's Group. This evaluation considers what was achieved: what worked well and what did not work, and lessons for the future; the legacies of the Year; and examples of the work undertaken. (RH).
