Annotation | Although the two surveys found evidence of encouraging signs of progress in medical and older people's involvement with and enthusiasm for, the National Service Framework, the significant increase in workload generated by the NSF may not be sustainable without more resources. Other joint findings make the following points: a lack of clarity as to the role and responsibilities of champions; significant lack of specialist input into clinical management; local intermediate care services appear to remain fragmented; and a perceived absence of clear accountability. Age Concern's survey is based on 150 questionnaires sent to Age Concern Organisations and larger Age Concern Groups. The British Geriatrics Society (BGS) conducted a postal survey of 150 lead clinicians in geriatric medicine in English NHS Trusts. Overall conclusions of the two surveys are also presented. (RH). |
