Annotation | Recording skills are less about writing ability, more about being able to observe and listen, to take in information, process it and interpret it, while still being clear about the influences of one's own subjective perception and understanding. This pack is designed to be used with social care workers employed in a range of settings with different client groups. The general learning aim is to help learners improve their recording skills and write more accurately, clearly, concisely and appropriately. The overall objectives are: to understand the importance of recording in providing quality care; to appreciate the need for confidentiality and understand the implications of recording; to know and apply the principles of good recording practice; to identify the problems in recording (i.e. selective perception, and failing to distinguish between fact and opinion); and to understand the purpose of different systems of recording.
