Annotation"Hungry in hospital?" (ACHCEW, 1997) and similar reports highlight malnutrition as a major problem for hospital patients. The author comments on what is good and bad about hospital menus; how treatment routines conflict with mealtimes and effective nutrition; nurses' roles and responsibilities for ensuring that their patients' nutritional needs are met; and how patients' families can help their relatives to eat. She concludes that while nutrition in hospitals is improving, there is still a long way to go. (RH).
