Annotation | Although it has been some 40 years since the first residents moved into the first leisure-orientated retirement communities (LORCs) in the US, housing issues remain an important component of gerontological discussions. Part of the reason is that, while much progress has been made, the US still has no coherent housing policy, nor is there agreement that one is necessary. LORCs are among many different housing alternatives that could provide direction in the formulation of such a policy. The authors use data from the late 1970s to the early 199s to explore the lessons learned. (RH). |
