Is there a slow lane on the information superhighway issues of exclusion and discrimination confronting older people in the information age | Author(s) | Alice Tay |
Journal title | Australasian Journal on Ageing, vol 20.3, supplement 2, September 2001 |
Pages | pp 42-49 |
Keywords | Information technology ; Physical disabilities ; Isolation ; Ageism ; Australia. |
Annotation | This paper argues that much of the Internet is currently delivering less than it could, more slowly, because of widespread failure not just to allow for, but to capitalise on human diversity, including the knowledge and perspectives of older people and people with disabilities. The human rights aspects of access to information - for example, from the Australian government - are highlighted; and attention is drawn to specific website addresses. (RH). |
