AnnotationThe Health survey of England comprises a series of annual series, of which the 2000 survey is the tenth. The Health Survey series is part of an overall programme of surveys commissioned by the Department of Health (DH), and designed to provide regular information on various aspects of the nation's health. This report, on psychosocial well-being among older people, is one of five topic reports based on data from the 2000 survey which included interviews with representative samples of older people aged 65+ in private households and in care homes. Chapters cover: cognitive impairment (measured by the Abbreviated Mental Test Score); the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) (to detect the presence of non-psychotic psychological morbidity, including depression); perceived social support; and social participation in care homes.
